What happened to the old site?

Midway through our fourth year, we thought it was high time the site design "grew up" a bit. Don't panic: to keep the site compatible with the widest variety of web browsers possible, we still follow a firm "cut to the chase" philosophy, and purposely eschew glitzy animations, Flash, CSS and pretty much every other type of web programming other than static images, tables, and basic HTML. The new layout should make it easier to find the data you want in as short a time as possible, while also offering a more polished look.

Who is "we"?

Our staff consists of The Editor, The Annotator, The Googler, an Associate Editor, a small cadre of Consulting Editors (known collectively as "the usual suspects"), and indirectly, the entire Scaper Horde. We welcome input of any kind: suggestions, comments, complaints or corrections.

Please note that we are not affiliated with, and receive no compensation or endorsement from, the show's production partners, cast, crew, staff, or critters of the week. In fact, we aren't paid, period. This site is just something we enjoy sharing.

How is the site maintained?

All pages are developed in the Macintosh environment. HTML is hand-coded, using BBEdit. Graphics are edited with a variety of applications, primarily Enhance and GraphicConverter. The complete site is physically hosted on a Linux server owned by Dreamhost.com.

Why are some pages incomplete?

Because we're human. :-) But we are working on the backlog.

Can I use your [episode summaries, annotations, graphics, people pages, etc.] on the website I'm building?

We're very sorry, but no. While we welcome and encourage links to the Guide, we retain all copyright to the original material herein, and no portion may be reposted in English on another site.

Please contact us if you run a non-English language website, and would like to offer any of our material in translation -- we will generally happily support that, but do ask that you contact us first, and include an appropriate site credit with any material used.

How can users support the site?

This site is deliberately free from commercial sponsorships and advertisements, so we regretfully must decline any requests to place banner or spot ads on the Guide.

However, if you'd like to help support the site, donating through the button below will route your contribution directly to the hosting company, which will credit the full amount (less PayPal's processing charge) against the site's annual fees:

And of course, there's always our CafePress shop, which has unique designs for scapers, as well as Snurcher's logo gift items.
